Small claims court allows you to sue a person, business, or government agency that you think owes you money. Generally, you can only sue for up to $12,500 in small claims court (or up to $6,250 if you’re a business). You can ask a lawyer for advice before you go to court, but you can't have one with you in court.

Complaint or other first paper in Limited Civil case (amount over $10,000 up to $35,000)
Complaint or other first paper in Unlimited Civil case (amount over $35,000), including:
-Complaint or other first paper in unlawful detainer case over $35,000
-Petition for a writ of review, mandate, or prohibition (other than a writ petition to the appellate division)
-Petition for a decree of change of name or gender
Forms may be either purchased in the civil division clerk's office or obtained online from the Judicial Council website. By law, the clerks can not provide legal advice, including which forms to use.
